The SouthwestSchool’s
lush grounds on the banks of the San
AntonioRiver
will be transformed into a shoppers’ paradise with more than 2,500 hand-crafted
bowls of all shapes and sizes, not to mention bold and fanciful colors. And as
in year’s past, the faithful and loyal shoppers to this popular, annual event will
begin lining up long before the doors open.
For $18
each guests are invited to select bowls to purchase and then choose from a wide
variety of delicious soups donated by some of San Antonio’s trendy restaurants and
caterers. The meal, complete with bread and water, is intended to signify the
meal of a homeless person. Also, there will be a silent auction featuring items
donated by some of the region’s most talented artists.
Over the last nine years the San Antonio Potters Guild has
raised more than $168,000 to benefit SAMMinistries,
one of the largest charities that provides services to the homeless in San Antonio.
10th ANNIVERSARY
SPECIAL ADDITION: Tycoon Flats, 2926 N. St.
Mary’s, is hosting an “Empty Bowls
10th Anniversary Party” from 3 pm – 10 pm, also to benefit SAMMinistries. Owner Richard Hartman
will be donating 10% of all net sales for the entire day to the well-known charity
that helps the homeless. Guests will be invited to make their donation to SAMMinistries at the door. Entertainers
for the “Anniversary Party” include Harry Wurzbach and the 410s (classic rock);
Bepko, Fletcher, Santos & Rose (acoustic classic rock); The L&Ms
(acoustic classic rock);Ron Rose & Friends (roots/Americana), and Jimmy Spacek (rhythm and blues).
These bands are playing for free to further support SAMMinistries.
